NABOB is the first and only trade organization representing the interests of African-American owners of radio and television stations across the country. The association was organized in 1976 by a small group of African-American broadcasters who desired to establish a voice and a viable presence in the industry and to address specific concerns facing African-American broadcasters.

Media Sales” is defined as “selling advertising airtime or space (on or in) cable, digital, internet, outdoor, publications, radio and television”. In 2000, The Media Sales Institute program was initially designed for recent college graduates who were passionately interested in pursuing a career in media sales. In 2016, the program launched the first institute open to military personnel (Post 9/11), career changers and recent college graduates.

Media Sales Recruiters invest two full days to access the candidates’ sales presentations, critique and hire the pre-qualified candidates selected for the program. Each MSI candidate scenario is based on a …real-world media sales avail. Following the presentations, each media company has a private "meet and greet" room to spend quality time with each candidate. In addition to the private meet and greets, the media companies also have the opportunity to have lunch with the candidates. The Media Sales Institute (MSI) would not be possible without the generous contribution of time and energy from media executives, in the industry today.

The 2017 MSI at the AUC is open to all Graduates from spring 2017 (or before). Career Changers (graduates between 2012-2004) and Military Personnel (Post 9/11).
Submit a completed MSI application, resume, two professional letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay describing why attending the MSI at the AUC will be valuable to you and your career goals. A brief description of internships and/or relevant work experience is optional.
The MSI at the AUC is underwritten by the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters Telecommunications Education and Management Foundation. Accepted applicants are granted a full scholarship to cover the cost of tuition, books, room and board.
